A quick look shows that South African universities dominate the top. The five best universities in the continent are all from South Africa. Second to South Africa is Egypt with four universities in the top 10. The only university that is not from either of the two countries is the University of Dar es Salaam from Tanzania. On the other hand, the ranking does not paint the true picture of the experiences of average South Africans. For one, South Africa has one of the worst high school systems in the continent. Also, only 15% of South Africa university students graduate. This is especially a problem for students from the public school system in townships.
